Welcome to Worship Therapy!

Worship has been an important part of my healing journey.  On this weekly podcast,  I’ll be sharing songs and artists who have impacted my life with their gifts.

This week we will discuss speaking life into the life of those who appear to be far from God and in desperate need of His touch. Let the breath of God breathe upon the ashes to create something beautiful.

WORSHIP

Our featured song is Come Alive (Dry Bones) by Lauren Daigle.

Lyrics:

Through the eyes of men it seems
There’s so much we have lost
As we look down the road
Where all the prodigals have walked
One by one
The enemy has whispered lies
And led them off as slaves

But we know that you are God
Yours is the victory
We know there is more to come
That we may not yet see
So with the faith you’ve given us
We’ll step into the valley unafraid, yeah

Chorus:

As we call out to dry bones
Come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts
Come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes
Let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones, come alive

God of endless mercy
God of unrelenting love
Rescue every daughter
Bring us back the wayward son
And By your spirit breathe upon them
Show the world that you alone can save
You alone can save

Repeat Chorus

So breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe, oh breath of God
Breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe

Breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe, oh breath of God
Breathe, oh breath of God, now breathe

Repeat Chorus

Oh come alive

WORD OF GOD

Read Ezekiel 37:1-14

This passage of scripture secures our hope in God’s ability to resurrect those lives which appear to be void of hope:

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.  He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.  He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”  Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. ~ Ezekiel 37:1-5

Now consider the words in Come Alive as it relates to this passage. You have the authority in Christ to prophesy to the dry bones. You have the ability to call them forth to “Come Alive.”

Today’s Therapy Session

  1. When you look at ashes it appears all has been lost. There is no form of what once was and there appears to be no hope. Some situation can carry this level of hopelessness. Some lives can go down a road of destruction so devastating it looks like a pile of ashes have been left in its wake. It takes courage to step into the valley of ashes and decree resurrection life. This is what Jesus does for us. He walks into the valley of our sin and new creature arises from the ashes. If you are in Christ, you are seated in heavenly places far removed from the ashes of your past. Are there any piles of ash you keep picking back up due to shame and regret? Trust in the finished work of Christ and release them to Him.
  2. Are you a parent who has been praying for a prodigal child? Is there someone in your life who is far from God? During your times of prayer, speak life over them. Ask for God to breathe upon their lives in such a way that they will not be able to deny His presence. Take a moment now to identify who in your sphere of influence is living in a place of dryness, separated from the Living Water of God. Keep that person in mind as you listen to this song.
