One of the things many of us are trying to do after the festive period is shed some of those pounds we put on after eating all the mince pies and pigs in blankets during the holidays.
Being able to shed some excess weight and feel happier and more confident in the new year is essential to our happiness – and even if many of us are still stuck at home during the pandemic it will still make you feel happier and healthier.
Today let’s take a look at some of the ways you can make yourself healthier and happier this January by outlining some simple tricks for shedding those excess pounds. Follow these tips throughout the month and you’ll start to feel more like yourself in no time!
Go on a juice cleanse
If you want a quick result and a reset button for the body this week – a healthy juice cleanse is the perfect answer for you. A juice cleanse can last for a few days or weeks and will replace your solid meals with healthy juice packed full of vegetables and fruit to keep you healthy. A juice cleanse is useful as it will allow you to lose some dead weight quickly and will act as a detox for the body.
Go veggie
If you ate a lot of meat during the holidays and now you feel bloated and fatigued – it is worth considering a switch to a veggie diet for a few weeks to help reset the body and get rid of that excess fat. There are tonnes of amazing veggie dishes out there for you to enjoy and there are even some veggie comfort dishes to enjoy during the month that will ensure you don’t feel like you are going on a diet.
Cut out sugar
Now is the time to put away the chocolates and sweets and hide them in a cupboard for a while. Most of us end up with tonnes of boxes of chocolate and selection boxes during the Christmas holidays and in January we are left with all of it to eat. As long as your chocolate is sealed you can leave it for a while and instead focus on cutting out sugar for the rest of the month. It is so important for us to cut out sugar now and again because it will reduce the amount of fat we store in our bodies and will encourage the body to use the fat stores it has as energy rather than reach for the extra sugar we have eaten.
Reduce portion sizes
One of the easiest ways to lose weight is to eat less. When trying to change your diet for the better it is important for you to control your portions and eat less than you did before. When having chili rather than 2 ladles have 1; instead of a plate full of lasagna fill part of the plate with salad. There are many ways for you to reduce portion sizes and you can even buy smaller plates to help you if you struggle.
